Safety

It's AI. Here is exactly what that means for your child.

You should know how a story is made before you hand it to a five-year-old. A language model writes it, filters check it, and your voice reads it aloud. This page is the detail behind each of those.

Start to finish

What happens between your brief and your child's screen

  1. You set the brief

A nickname, an age and a theme. Nothing else about your child leaves the app, no surname, no photograph, no location.

  2. A model writes it

The brief goes to a language model under contract to use it only for your story and to delete it afterwards. It is never used to train anyone's AI.

  3. Filters check it

Every story is checked for age-appropriateness before it can be opened. Anything that fails is regenerated rather than shown.

  4. It reaches your shelf

The story lands in your family's library, illustrated and narrated. Nobody outside your account can see it.

We would rather be straight about the limits than oversell them: the filtering is very good, and it is not perfect. Read along with your child, and tell us at hello@faybley.com the moment something looks wrong. Every report is read.

Every story is checked

Age-appropriateness filters run on the whole story (words and pictures) before it can be opened. Vocabulary and themes follow the age on the profile, so the same idea reads very differently for a three-year-old and a nine-year-old.

No ads, no tracking, no strangers

There is no advertising in Faybley, no third-party tracker following your child between apps, and no chat, comments or messaging of any kind. Nobody can reach your child through this app.

Voices need consent

Only an adult can record a voice, and only their own. A recording narrates your family's stories and nothing else, never another user's, never our marketing, never a training set. Delete it and it is gone.

You hold the keys

Settings, spending and profiles sit behind Face ID, so the person holding the iPad cannot change them. You can review or delete everything attached to a child at any time.

Things Faybley will never do

Some promises are easier to judge than a policy document. These are ours, and they are ones you can hold us to.

  • Sell or rent your family's data. To anyone, for any price.
  • Show your child an advert.
  • Let a stranger send your child a message.
  • Train an AI model on your child's information.
  • Use your recorded voice outside your own account.
  • Ask a child for a surname, an address, a photograph or a location.

Parental controls

What you can change, and where

  • Face ID on the parent area: settings, purchases and profiles cannot be reached from the reading side.
  • Age per child: sets vocabulary, sentence length and which themes are available.
  • Language per child: useful when there is one language you want kept up.
  • Voice management: record, replace or delete a voice under My Voices. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
  • Delete a profile: removes that child's stories and details from our systems.
  • Delete your account, in Settings, and it takes everything with it.
