Privacy Policy

Faybley is used by children, so we hold ourselves to a stricter standard than the law asks for. Here is exactly what we collect, why we need it, and how to get rid of it.

Last updated 18 August 2026

Who this applies to

Faybley is made by Aethos Solutions LLC, a limited liability company based in Los Angeles, California. This policy covers the Faybley app on iPhone and iPad, and the website at faybley.com: together, the Service. It is addressed to the parent or guardian who holds the account, because only an adult can open one.

Using the Service means you accept this policy. If you would rather not, write to hello@faybley.com and we will close your account and delete what we hold.

What we collect

We ask for as little as we can while still making the app work. What we hold falls into five groups.

  • Your account: your email address and your name, so you can sign in and so we can reach you about your subscription.
  • Child profiles: a first name or nickname, an age, and a handful of interests. That is what puts your child inside the story.
  • Your voice: only if you choose to record one: the audio you record and the voice model built from it.
  • Your subscription, which plan you are on and when it renews. Apple takes the payment; your card details never reach us.
  • Device and diagnostics: device model, iOS version, crash reports, and anonymous counts of which features get used, so we can fix what breaks.

We never ask a child for anything. No surname, no address, no phone number, no photograph, no location. A child profile is a nickname and an age attached to your account, and nothing more.

What we do with it

We use what we collect to:

  • write, illustrate and narrate stories for your family;
  • keep your library in step across your devices;
  • apply your plan's limits and restore purchases you have already made;
  • reply when you write to us;
  • find and fix bugs, and work out which features are worth building;
  • meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your data, and we never share it with advertisers. Faybley carries no advertising and no third-party ad or analytics SDK that would follow your child from one app to the next.

Artificial intelligence

Faybley writes its stories with AI, so where your words go matters.

  • What gets sent: the story brief: your child's nickname, age, chosen theme and reading language. That is everything the model receives.
  • Who processes it: third-party model providers, under contract, permitted to use the data only to return your story and required to delete it afterwards.
  • Training: we do not train AI models on your family's data, and our providers are contractually barred from doing so.
  • Filtering: every story is checked for age-appropriateness before it appears in the app.

AI is not infallible. Read along with your child as you would with any book, and tell us at hello@faybley.com if something is not right: we would far rather hear it than not.

Your voice recording

Voice cloning is the most sensitive thing Faybley does, so it gets its own rules.

  • Only an adult records. You confirm the voice is your own and that you consent before you begin. Never record a child.
  • Only your family hears it. Your voice narrates stories inside your account. It is never offered to another user, never used in our marketing, and never used to train a general-purpose voice model.
  • You can delete it. Remove a voice under My Voices in the app and both the recording and the model built from it are deleted for good.
  • It is encrypted in transit and at rest, and kept only for as long as your account holds it.

Some places treat a voiceprint as biometric data. Where that is the law, read this section as our biometric notice: we collect a voiceprint only with your consent, use it only to narrate your own stories, and destroy it when you delete the voice or close your account.

Children's privacy

Faybley is a children's app, and we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the equivalent rules elsewhere.

  • Only an adult can open an account. Children cannot register, sign in, or buy anything.
  • We collect the minimum needed to personalise a story, and never contact details from a child.
  • There is no chat, no comments, no messaging, and no way for a stranger to reach your child.
  • There is no behavioural advertising to anyone, and no advertising at all to children.
  • You can review, export or delete everything attached to a child profile whenever you like.

If you think a child has given us information without your consent, write to hello@faybley.com and we will delete it.

Who else sees it

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only in these cases:

  • Service providers: hosting, sign-in, crash reporting, story generation and email delivery. Each is under contract and may use the data only to run the Service.
  • Apple: handles every payment. We see the outcome, never your card.
  • The law: where we are legally required to, or where someone's safety is at stake.
  • A future owner: if Faybley is ever sold or merged, with notice to you and no weakening of the protections set out here.

How long we keep it

  • Account and child profiles: while your account is open, then deleted within 30 days of closure.
  • Stories: until you delete them or close your account.
  • Story briefs: discarded as soon as the story has been generated.
  • Voice recordings and models: until you delete the voice or close your account.
  • Anonymous analytics: kept indefinitely, because they cannot be traced back to any person.

How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it, and reviewed. No system is perfect: if a breach ever affects you, we will tell you promptly and in plain language rather than waiting to be asked.

Where your data lives

Faybley is operated from Los Angeles, California, and your information is processed in the United States and in other countries where our providers run infrastructure. Wherever it is handled, this policy governs how it is treated, and we require the same of everyone who processes it on our behalf.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • show you what we hold about you and your children;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your account and everything attached to it;
  • send you a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • stop sending you anything that is not essential;
  • withdraw consent you gave earlier.

You can delete your account yourself in the app's settings, or write to hello@faybley.com. We answer within 30 days, and there is never a charge.

Cookies

The app uses no cookies at all. The website uses only what it needs to work and to count visits in aggregate. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no profile built about you.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top of the page. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, rather than leaving you to notice.

How to reach us

One address, read by a person: hello@faybley.com. A question, a deletion request, or something about your child's safety all go to the same place. We reply within 30 days, and far sooner for anything involving a child. The data controller is Aethos Solutions LLC, Los Angeles, California, United States.
